Copper Range

The Copper Range was a short line in the Keweenaw peninsula of Upper Michigan that had 3 Baldwin switchers. Their home office was in Houghton, right near the lift bridge.

NEW! After over 35 years I remembered that one of my Michigan Tech roommates had shot a few slides of the Copper Range for me after I had graduated and left the area. Glen is no longer with us, but I am sure he would be happy to see his work posted on the Web for all to see.

	Here is one of the units in Houghton, Mich. on Dec 12, 1967.
	Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived in the Copper Country, this plow can take a well deserved rest. Houghton, Mich. on May 25, 1969.
	Over across the river in Hancock the train is headed west towards the lift bridge and Houghton. Note the light rails and lack of tie plates as the rails sink into the ties. May of 1970.
	I just remembered that one of my roommates from my Michigan Tech days took these photos of the Copper Range for me in May of 1973. This was after I had graduated and left the area. Glen was not a railfan, but I still was happy to get these slides from him. All taken on Kodachrome II film. Glen just wandered around the yards and took photos, and these slides have not seen the light of day for well over 35 years now! Houghton, Michigan - May 1973.

	Here is the old Copper Range station in August of 1981 - taken when I was in Houghton for my 10th anniversary class reunion at Da Tech. Apparently everything else was gone by then seeing as how this is the only photo of the Copper Range I took on that trip.
